WHY THERAPY

First I would like to acknowledge the difficulty which may exist when seeking a therapist. We can look at cultural differences, ability to have access to therapy, financial thoughts, and desire for change; among many other factors which may be viewed as obstacles. Bottom line is that you are worth it, you are worth the investment. I would encourage any individual to have an open dialogue with their therapist about what obstacles may be present in seeking, attending, and maintaining therapy. Be patient with yourself and explore the options of professionals you may have around you.
Therapy is used as a tool to achieve personal goals and to find an understanding of ourselves. One perspective of therapy is to view it like we would spring cleaning or training for a physical event/goal. What I mean by this is our ability to place excess weight/clutter off of ourselves to readjust and to view our environment in a way in which we either have never viewed or have not viewed in a while.
We behave the way we do because of something, there is a reason we are who we are. Unfortunately we sometimes do not have the time or energy to challenge old thoughts and patterns. When we create this narrative we occasionally limit our environment and more importantly we may be limiting ourselves. Each therapist comes with a unique background, training, personal experience, and more.
Each therapist has the ability to meet a client at different life stages. I would encourage individuals to seek guidance, have an open dialogue, and explore professionals to find an appropriate fit for ourselves and where we stand.
